How do I dispose of a Christmas tree?

Single-family units with curbside trash collection:
Christmas trees will be picked up on your normal trash day. Visit the Public Works Department page for tree pickup dates.

Multi-Family Units and Businesses with centralized trash collection: 
Christmas trees will be picked up at your curbside on the regular residential collection day. Simply place the tree at the curb in front of your property by 7:00 A.M. Click (map) for your collection day.

Please remove plastic containers, ornaments, tinsel, lights, and metal stands. Trees will be mulched!  Flocked trees and trees coated with fire retardant will be accepted.

We recommend two convenient options for disposing of your car batteries:

  • Attend a Los Angeles County sponsored HHW Round-Up, scheduled throughout the year. For exact dates, please call the County of Los Angeles (800) 98-TOXIC.
  • Take the batteries to a S.A.F.E. Collection Center. They are open every Saturday and Sunday - year round: 1) Hyperion Treatment Plant at 7660 West Imperial Hwy., Gate B, Playa Del Rey; and 2) San Pedro Collection Center at 1400 N. Gaffey St. San Pedro, CA 90021.

How do I dispose of heavy trash like household appliances and electronic waste?

The City offers the collection of large bulky items and white goods free of charge to residents of single family homes. Bulky items are defined as large items over 50 lbs. including sofas, tables, mattresses, book cases, ranges, and other appliances or white goods.  Electronic waste (e-waste) such as TV's, VCR's, cell phones, computers, and microwaves can be picked up as bulky items as well. To coordinate bulky item pick-up for single family units contact Athens Services at (888) 336-6100, at least 48 hours in advance of your regular trash collection day. A maximum of four bulky items will be collected per pick-up. For safety, please seal doors tightly prior to collection.

How do I report illegal dumping ?

Call Public Works Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at (310) 318-0658. After business hours call the Police Department Dispatch Center at (310) 379-5411.

How do I report polluters?

If you witness an act of pollution, please call 1-888-CLEANLA (1-888-253-2652) to report the incident.  This is a 24-hour hotline.

Also, contact the City's Public Works Inspector at extension 2271.

How do I report someone in Redondo Beach wasting water?

You will contact California Water Service by calling 310-257-1400 or via their website at http://www.calwater.com. Their you will select Conservation, then Report Water Waste. Rancho Dominguez is the water district for Redondo Beach. Once you select that the rest is self explanatory.

How much does it cost at the city dump?

There is no city dump.
